The unknown future

It was a pleasant morning, the birds were chirping which made me to wake up from my sleep. Though I woke up, I didn't get up from my bed feeling lazy.

From the kitchen I heard my mom saying, " sweetheart get up, its already 7".

I replied, " 5 more minutes" and as usual I covered my head with my pillow and again I went back to my dream world.

After sometime, My mom came running into room and shouted, " get up, we need to take Prathiba to the hospital ".

I quickly looked up and asked, " what happened ?". I was wondering what would have gone wrong as my sister was health yesterday.

My mom said, " she is having a high fever and she is not able to understand whatever I say".

We took an auto to a near by hospital. The doctor prescribed some medicine for her and we came back home.

It was third day since my sister had fever but still she didn't recover. we told about this to our doctor and He asked us to admit her in the hospital.

we admitted her in the hospital by 9 am. My sister's blood was taken for the test. Sudha was the nurse who took care of my sister. She came in to the room for once in one hour.

It was 10.30am, As I was bored, I was roaming in the hospital and when I came back to the room, I saw that my mom and Sudha were having a nice conversation. I sat near my mom and was listening to their conversation and as I didnt have any other choice, I was forced to listen to their conversation even though it was boring.

Suddenly, I glanced at my sister and I noticed that she was breathless.

I got nervous and told this to Sudha. My sister was then rushed into the ICU followed by our doctor. I peeped through the glass doors of ICU and saw that she was given oxygen and cardiac massage.

After 15 mins, the doctor came out of ICU and he told something to my mom and my mom started crying.

I was shocked when I heard that my sister is no more. I went into ICU. My sister was lying down so peacefully but I never felt that she has died, It seemed as if she is sleeping on the bed. I stood near the bed and was staring into my sister's face and the happiest moments that we spent together flashed into my mind.

All the rituals got over by 9 pm.and we came back home by 9.30 pm. I never imagined that I will be losing my sister due to some fever. She died before the result of tests arrived. Till now we don't know the exact cause for her death. I always love and miss you sister. It all happened in one day. We never know what will happen tomorrow and the only thing we can do is to be happy the present day and true to our heart.
